September 6 ~ Random Walk

Founded by guitarist Bill Bonifas who, prior to forming the band, sought the help of bassist Eric Hervey to help finish and arrange his compositions. Drummer Mike Murphy was called and the trio became Random Walk. Dave Matsen soon joined the band, enhancing Bill's work with sax, keyboards and the unique WX7 wind synthesizer. Dave also started adding his own original tunes.

The band became a Friday night staple at Virginia's in Milwaukee, attracting big crowds interested in checking out the band's unique approach to jazz/rock. Guitar virtuoso, Daryl Stuermer (Genesis, Phil Collins) became interested in the band and offered his services to produce the debut album, "Mile One". About that time, John Sedewitz, joined the band adding an array of percussion sounds to the band's originality.

Jazz in the Park is Milwaukee's favorite free, outdoor, summer music series, featuring an eclectic lineup of jazz, big band, funk, R & B, reggae, blues and more. Performers come from across town or across the country.

Concerts take place Thursday evenings, 5pm-9pm from June 7  through September 6, in Cathedral Square Park.  Music starts at 6pm, but stop by early for Jazz in the Park Happy Hour and get great drink specials from 5-6pm! 

Jazz in the Park is produced by a non-profit organization and asks that you leave your adult beverages at home. All proceeds from sales at Jazz in the Park help offset the high costs of production and ensure the continued success of the festival. Please do your part to support this event.
